A little history
It was a freethinking man with a great sense of humour, Charles Perrié, a restaurateur in Alfort who, in the 1860s, gave the civil name of Alfort-ville to the lands at the confluence of the Seine and the Marne in this western district of Maisons-Alfort, which was destined a few years later for a separate future. The commune of Alfortville was created by the law of 1 April 1885 on a territory detached from the commune of Maisons-Alfort and incorporated into the canton of Charenton-le-Pont. Full text of the law of 1 April 1885. Art. 1. The section of Alfortville is detached from the commune of Maisons-Alfort, and shall henceforth form a distinct commune, the chief town of which is fixed at the bourg d'Alfortville, which shall bear its name.
