A little history
A railway line between Nantes and La Roche-sur-Yon served the gare d'Aizenay between 1880 and 1970. Goods traffic between the chief town of Vendée and Coëx continued until 1995. This section, declassified in 1996, was stripped of its rails and then converted into a cycle path in 1999. Situated between Saint-Joseph-des-Landes and la Brionnière, the stèle de la Brionnière commemorates the parachuting of two tonnes of weapons on 11 August 1943.
