Vic-sur-Cère, sometimes called Vic-en-Carladez, is a French commune and chief town of the canton de Vic, situated in the département du Cantal in the région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. It is situated in the vallée de la Cère, bordered downstream by the commune of Polminhac and upstream by that of Thiézac, with which it forms a station verte.
A little history
In the Middle Ages, two children of Vic became famous troubadours, Pierre de Cols and Pierre de Vic, who studied at the abbaye d'Aurillac and went on to win the prizes at the literary tournaments of the cours d'amour, thus bringing fame to the name of the town of which his father was lord. The viguerie belonged to Guillaume, seigneur de la Cère, and its seat was in 1279 in the château de Vic. In 1266, the recognitions to the vicomte de Carlat were signed by the lords of the region either "devant le château de Vic" or "devant l'église, dans le cimetière".
