Tullins [tylɛ̃] is a French commune situated in the département of Isère, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Its inhabitants are known as the Tullinois. The commune, whose official name is Tullins, is referred to locally under the name of Tullins-Fures owing to the separatist wishes of the Fures district (this is notably the name of its railway station).
A little history
The hill of Parménie which overlooks Tullins is situated in the neighbouring commune of Beaucroissant. Close to the village of Beaucroissant, the visitor can discover a cup-marked stone, known locally as the pierre pucelle. According to Pierre Bische, author of local historical works, this is said to be the only monument from the Neolithic period surviving in the region. The history of Tullins begins approximately 3,500 years ago, in the Middle Bronze Age. A riveted bronze dagger, dated to 1500 BC.
