A little history
The dolmen de la Verrerie Vieille, a Neolithic site listed on the supplementary inventory of historic monuments by order of 3 November 1987, bears witness to human occupation on the territory of the commune. A significant Roman villa stood in the quartier Saint Simon, already establishing the agricultural vocation of the plain of Tourrettes. The name Tourrettes appears in 1032 in the cartularies of the monastery of Lérins, then of Saint Victor de Marseille in 1043, the date of construction of the église Saint-André. The first mentions of the castral borough of Velnasque and the castral borough of Pibresson date from the 13th century.
