A little history
In the 14th century, the château d'Armainvilliers is mentioned as belonging to a cadet branch of the family de Garlande, also lords of Possesse and Tournan, whose lords had notably included Guy de Garlande (who was still living in 1186), Anseau Ier de Garlande (of whom no title is known), Anseau II de Garlande (who was living in 1192), Robert de Garlande and Anseau III de Garlande (from 1246 until 1255). In 1544, this château gave refuge to François Ier following the capture of Château-Thierry by the troops of Charles Quint. From that period onwards, it became the residence of the lords of Tournan.
