Thimert-Gâtelles est une commune française située dans le département d'Eure-et-Loir en région Centre-Val de Loire, dans la région naturelle du Thymerais dans le pays Drouais. Vers l'an 1000, la ville était le centre du Thymerais avant de perdre de son importance à la suite de la destruction de son château et de l'abandon de son site au profit de la ville voisine de Châteauneuf. Exposée à un climat océanique altéré, elle est drainée par le Coinon, la Vallée de Bellevue, la Vallée de Longueville, la Vallée de Misère, la Vallée de Saint-Sauveur et divers autres petits cours d'eau.
