Soisy-sur-Seine (pronounced [swazi syʁ sɛn]) is a French commune situated twenty-four kilometres south-east of Paris in the département of Essonne in the Île-de-France region. The commune is peri-urban and is located close to departmental and national transport routes (the D448, the nationale 6 to the north and the nationale 7 to the south), within the Bassin parisien and twenty-five kilometres south-east of Paris. At the last census of 2012, the commune had 6,795 inhabitants.
A little history
In former times, craft trades and small-scale farming kept all the inhabitants on Soiséen soil. They were market gardeners, cultivators and wine growers. In the 18th and 19th centuries, around sixty wine growers produced a light and delicate wine from more than 40 hectares of vines. Then, the extraction of meulière stone attracted an outside workforce.
