A little history
The Gallo-Roman past is only visible in the presence of a road known as a Roman road which occupied the axis of the vallée de Montmorency. This important road lay on the route from Paris to Rouen, via Saint-Denis and Pontoise, and its line can be found again in the « chaussées Jules César » used as a street name in Eaubonne and Franconville to the north-west. Situated partly on the slopes of the large hill that bears the forêt de Montmorency, its land was well suited to vines and fruit trees. The lower part, at the bottom of the wide vallée de Montmorency, was marshy, so much so that the main settlement had to be established at the foot of the first slopes.
