Seyssinet-Pariset is a French commune, situated in the département of Isère, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The commune, which is located in the urban area of Grenoble, has been a member of the métropole Grenoble-Alpes Métropole since the creation of this communauté d'agglomération. The greater part of this commune, often referred to simply as Seyssinet, is situated in the suburbs bordering the town of Grenoble, from which it is separated, to the east, only by the course of the great alpine torrent, the Drac.
A little history
The hamlet of Pariset contains two prehistoric sites of importance for our understanding of the settlement of the region. In the cave known as the Sarrasins, at the foot of the tour sans Venin, excavations carried out in 1880 and then during the years 1965 to 1971 yielded, over three metres of depth, remains spanning all periods from the recent Neolithic to the Middle Ages, from the beginning of the agricultural development of the slopes of the Vercors. At the Chatelas, a necropolis containing seven burials was discovered in 1915. An abundance of bronze bracelets made it possible to date it to the end of the first Iron Age (Hallstatt), around the 6th century BC.
