Sennecey-le-Grand is a French commune situated in the département of Saône-et-Loire, in the région of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.
A little history
The local seigneury spanned seven centuries, from 1113 to 1846. On the eve of the Revolution, Sennecey-le-Grand had a relay post for horses, situated between that of Chalon-sur-Saône and that of Tournus, with 28 horses (in 1786). During the French Revolution, the commune temporarily bore the name of Grand-Sennecey. Established as the chief town of the canton in 1790, it remained so until 2015, the date on which the canton disappeared and was incorporated into the canton of Tournus.
