Satillieu [satiljø] is a French commune, chef-lieu de canton until 2014, located in the département de l'Ardèche in the région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, 14 kilometres south of Annonay.
A little history
During prehistory, Satillieu must have known, like the whole of northern Ardèche, the presence of Magdalenian tribes. Then, from 1000 BC, the arrival of the Ligurian people, and a little later that of the Celts. The Roman period apparently left no archaeological traces. However, it may have given the village its name, as the "domain of Satillius".
