Saint-Quentin-Fallavier is a French commune in the urban unit of Villefontaine, situated in the département of Isère in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Its territory was largely developed as part of the new town of L'Isle-d'Abeau, which is home to the important Chesnes business park. Since 2007 it has been one of the 22 communes of the Porte de l'Isère agglomeration community, whose headquarters are located in the neighbouring commune of L'Isle-d'Abeau.
A little history
The site of Fallavier has been occupied by humans since prehistory, approximately 16,000 years ago. A Gallo-Roman necropolis and a hydraulic structure dating from the 2nd century were discovered on the site. A first castle already existed in the 13th century and, after acquiring it in 1250, the counts of Savoie had it enlarged and reinforced. The accounts of the châtellenie de Fallavier, put in place by Pierre II de Savoie, are among the oldest preserved records of Savoie administration and date back to 1246–1247.
