A little history
In 1787, the municipality was constituted with a syndic procurator. The cahier de doléances of 1789, drafted by Moulin de la Blanchère, called for provincial estates with a vote by head and as many representatives for the third estate as for the other two orders. On 14 June 1790, the primary assembly requested the annexation of the canton to the département of Orne. Upon the creation of the cantons, La Poôté became the chief town of the canton.
