Saint-Pardoux-la-Rivière is a French commune located in the département of Dordogne, in the région of Nouvelle-Aquitaine. From 1790 to 2015, the commune was the chef-lieu of the canton of Saint-Pardoux-la-Rivière. It is included within the parc naturel régional Périgord-Limousin.
A little history
A community of Dominican nuns was founded at Saint-Pardoux at the request of Marguerite de Bourgogne, widow of the vicomte de Limoges, who died in 1277. The convent was founded by Gérard de Maumont in 1293. The first six nuns took up residence there. The nuns were expelled from the convent on 1st October 1792. The buildings were sold as national property and awarded to the citoyen Planchas Lavalette on 10th November 1792.
