Saint-Palais (in Basque, Donapaleu) is a French commune situated in the French département of Pyrénées-Atlantiques, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. The town is situated to the north of Basse-Navarre and was the capital of the kingdom of Navarre after the conquest of Pampelune in 1521. Bordered by the Bidouze and the Joyeuse, it is 52 km from Bayonne, 66 km from Pau and 39 km from Spain.

Saint-Palais is a Navarrese royal foundation, a new town or iriberri, most likely dating from the early 13th century. It was granted a for mentioned in documents from the 14th century. The former village with a seigneurial manor known as la salle de Sent Palay was provided with walls, gates and moats. The town was built on a rocky promontory overlooking the Bidouze.
