A little history
An archaeological dig carried out in 2018 by Archeodunum revealed a vast site from the final Bronze Age and the Gaulish period. A deacon by the name of Marcel (saint Marcel de Chalon, celebrated on 4 September), connected to the martyrs of Lyon, was condemned by a governor by the name of Priscus to be quartered by being tied to trees, flogged, delivered to the flames and buried up to the waist in the field of a god Bacon, where he lay dying for three days and died on 4 September 177 (or 179). This saint was venerated and an oratory was erected on the site of his martyrdom.
