A little history

The first known historical mention of Saint-André de Corcy dates back to 1095, when it was referred to as the Ecclesia Sancti Andree cum capella que est in castro Corziaci. Saint-André de Corcy was formerly called Nemerosum, meaning the wooded place, then Coriciacum, meaning a cultivated spot on a small rise. The village owes its origins to the former château de Corcy (11th century), a possession of the sires de Villars and de Beaujeu, then in the 14th century of the dauphins du Viennois. It was subsequently destroyed and replaced by the château de Montribloud. Divided into two hamlets, l'Église at the top and la Croix Blanche at the bottom, the commune had an agricultural vocation.
