A little history
In 630, Clovis II, the son of Dagobert Ier king of the Franks, travelled to Geneva to meet the king of the Burgondes. There he met a young slave girl, the daughter of a Saxon king taken prisoner, and wished to ask for her hand in marriage. In accordance with this wish, Dagobert Ier sent a delegation including Léger d'Autun to ask the king of the Burgondes for the princess's hand and bring her back to Paris. On arriving in the area of Oyonnax, at the lieu-dit Sous-Nierme, the litter of Léger d'Autun broke and injured the head of the escort.
