Roussillon, the town
Roussillon covers 11.6 km², lies between 146 and 265 m above sea level and had 8,595 inhabitants in the 2023 census.

A little history
In the Middle Ages, Roussillon (see the tour de Roussillon, on the heights of the town) belonged to a great feudal family of the Viennois who took their name from it and also ruled over Annonay. Humbert VII de Thoire-Villars († c. 1423/1424) inherited it through his marriage (in 1350, without issue) to Alix de Roussillon († c. 1367), then surrendered it to his 3rd wife Isabelle/Isabeau d'Harcourt (married in 1383, † in April or June 1443), daughter of Jean VI, comte d'Harcourt, and Catherine de Bourbon.
