Rocbaron is a French commune situated in the Var department, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Rocbaron is locally known for its retail park established in the early 2000s at the foot of the summit of Fray Redon, which gave it its name.
A little history
The castrum de Forcalqueiret appears in texts in 1025. The lands of Forcalqueiret belonged at that time to the viscounts of Marseille, who donated them as early as the 11th century to the abbaye de Saint-Victor. The fief comprising the present-day communes of Rocbaron, Forcalqueiret and Sainte-Anastasie was reconstituted in the 13th century by Geoffroy Reforciat, viscount of Marseille and lord of Trets. On 3 January 1227, the local lord Guillaume de Rochabaron sold his lordship to his overlord Geoffroy Reforciat.
