A little history
The Romans settled on a Celto-Ligurian site built on a rocky hillock named Regussia. Following the upheaval caused by the Wars of Religion, the village was abandoned and then repopulated in 1580 by Hungarians. Gaspard de Grimaud purchased the seigneury in 1613 and had it erected into a marquisate by letters patent issued in Paris in November 1649. His grandson Charles de Grimaud, président at the parlement de Provence in 1643, began to bear the family name Grimaldi.
