A little history
One of the dolmens in the Var closest to the sea shore is to be found in the commune of Ramatuelle in the baie de la Briande. The dolmen de la Briande is situated on the western part of the cap Taillat peninsula, two or three metres above sea level. Dating from the end of the Neolithic period, it is made up of slabs of schist set into the ground, the sole remaining vestiges of the burial chamber, the doorway and the passage having been destroyed. Excavated in 1939 and in 1958, the site yielded tools, arrowheads, polished axes and so forth.
