A little history
The town owes its origin to the only bridge that crossed the river at this point. In 1502, Marguerite d'Autriche and Philibert duc de Savoie settled there after their marriage in a château built at the southern tip of the Revermont range. At the end of the 13th century, it was part of the parish of Oussiat and lay within the sphere of influence of the château de Saint-André-sur-Suran (Neuville-sur-Ain). From 1999 to 2012, it belonged to the communauté de communes de Pont-d'Ain, Priay, Varambon, before its merger into the communauté de communes Rives de l'Ain - Pays du Cerdon.
