A little history
In 1601, following the end of the Franco-Savoyard war, which concluded with the traité de Lyon, Polliat became part of France with the latter's acquisition of the Bresse, the Bugey, the Valromey and the pays de Gex. It was subsequently incorporated into the province of Burgundy. Between 1790 and 1795, the commune was a municipality of the canton de Bourg, and came under the district de Bourg. On 6 June 1857, the railway line between Mâcon and Bourg-en-Bresse was brought into service by the Compagnie des chemins de fer de Paris à Lyon et à la Méditerranée (PLM).
