Othis [ɔtis] is a French commune situated in the département of Seine-et-Marne in the Île-de-France region.
A little history
The village originally came under the authority of the Bishop of Senlis, who endowed his chapter with it. The local area comprised numerous fiefs and religious possessions. Once a monastery, the fief of Guincourt belonged in 1185 to Albéric de Guincourt. In 1205, the monks of Saint-Vincent de Senlis gave the priory of Saint-Laurent in exchange to Guillaume Cluingnet, a knight and lord of the "grande maison" fief of Othis.
