A little history
As early as the 12th and 13th centuries, Mitry was provided, most likely by the Comte de Dammartin, with a leper house at the edge of the village and an Hôtel-Dieu at its centre. Louis de Mory was condemned, in 1465, to be quartered at the halles de Paris for having favoured the Burgundians. By an act of mercy, however, he was hanged instead. In 1695, Louis XIV united the assets and revenues of the leper house and the Hôtel-Dieu to found a hospital. Bossuet, the local bishop, came in person to install two sœurs de la Charité there in 1698.
