A little history
For feudal history, historians traditionally link Magnac-(Laval) to a medieval family which took its name and which is said to have begun around the year one thousand with Etienne de Magnac, followed notably by various Etienne and Ithier de Magnac. This seigneurial dynasty is thought to have been related to the former lords of Montmorillon. Then the heiress Belle-Assez de Magnac, daughter of Ithier, sénéchal of Saintonge, and granddaughter of Ithier and Belle-Assez de Brosse, married in the second half of the 14th century, around 1374, Guy(on) II de Sully-Beaujeu.
