The site of Louvres has been inhabited since Prehistory, as occupation of the place has been attested since the Upper Palaeolithic. No dense Gaulish settlement has been found at Louvres. However, a Gallo-Roman presence is attested. A necropolis from the Late and High Empire is currently being excavated (2010).
