A little history
The community has been mentioned since the 12th century (cf. a deed of 1160) under the name of Lisiacum, and the town was for a long time an agricultural, industrial and commercial centre of some importance (flour mills, cloth mills, oil mills, markets, trade, cellars, covered market halls). At the beginning of the 14th century, Raoul de Presles (c. 1270–1329/1331), a jurist to the last direct Capetians, was lord of Lizy, then his widow Jeanne de Chastel, † 1347, ceded it to Pierre de Machault.
