Le Val is a French commune situated in the Var department, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. This village is located in the Pays de La Provence Verte. The commune has numerous monuments, a rich movable heritage and several natural sites.
A little history
4,500 years ago, the first inhabitants had settled at the foot of the falaise des Essartènes. Dolmens situated on the ridge separate Le Val from Brignoles. 300 years before our era, an oppidum was built on the hill of Paracol, a site that would be occupied until the 10th century, and where the population took refuge during invasions. In 973, the comte Guillaume Ier le Libérateur delivered Provence from the Saracens and distributed land to his knights.
