A little history
Isolated by the difficulties of access linked to its terrain and also by the insecurity that afflicted the shores of the sea, the current valley of the Préconil, formerly known as the Val d'Avignon, long remained uninhabited or sparsely inhabited. In the 16th century, in these wide open spaces, near springs that never ran dry during the long summer drought, a few bastides appeared, built to meet the demands of agricultural, forestry and family life. These bastides gradually became hamlets grouping together, initially, the descendants of a single family.
