Le Châtelet-en-Brie is a French commune situated in the département of Seine-et-Marne in the Île-de-France region.

A little history

Le Châtelet-en-Brie takes its name from the castelletum, the military post that the Romans established halfway between Condate (Montereau) and Melodunum (Melun). And in all likelihood, upon arriving at the site, they found, built on the hill around the sacred spring that has today become the fontaine Sainte-Reine, the huts of a few Gaulish hunters, shepherds and already farmers. The village subsequently endured the unenviable fate of small towns positioned along the main invasion routes. The establishment of the Franks, in the 5th century, brought no improvement to the daily life of a population that struggled to secure its subsistence and was almost entirely deprived of rights.
