A little history
The communal territory has been an important thoroughfare since Antiquity. The Gallo-Roman road known as the Chemin Paré, linking the ancient towns of Augustobona and Iantinum, passes across the plateau above the present-day town. It arrives from the south via Saint-Mars-en-Brie, turns westward and crosses the ru de la Michée at the pont des Romains. It then follows the southern edge of the Grand Morin valley westward, partly taking the route of the departmental road 934 at Jouy-sur-Morin and Saint-Rémy-la-Vanne, before diverging slightly to the north at Saint-Siméon and to the south at Chailly-en-Brie, where it joins the Via Agrippa de l'Océan.
