La Bazoge is a French commune situated in the département of la Sarthe in the région of Pays de la Loire, with a population of 3,796 inhabitants. The commune forms part of the historic province of Maine, and is located in the Champagne mancelle.
A little history
As early as the 4th century BC, a Gallo-Roman population settled there to exploit iron ore extracted from roussard sandstone. Production gradually shifted elsewhere over time, which slowed the expansion of the commune. Numerous kilns from the Gaulish period were uncovered during the construction of the motorway passing through the commune.
