Juvigné is a French commune, located in the département of Mayenne in the région of Pays de la Loire. The commune is part of the historic province of Maine, and is situated in the Bas-Maine.
A little history
Alerted by Guillaume de Craon that an English troop led by Hugues de Calveley was heading towards Juvigné in 1362, Bertrand du Guesclin offered to join him in attacking them. Du Guesclin found himself isolated and was taken prisoner. He regained his freedom following the payment of a ransom of 30,000 écus. In 1849, typhoid ravaged the commune. The doctor Vilfeu, from Laval, had the greatest difficulty persuading the municipality to remove enormous and foul heaps of manure, and force nearly had to be used against the inhabitants, who cried ruin and preferred the danger to the loss of twenty sous worth of fertiliser.
