A little history
Situated between the massif de l'Hautil and the Oise, the Jocassien territory has been occupied since the Neolithic period, as evidenced by the menhir de Jouy-la-Fontaine and several polished stone axes found here and there. The place is mentioned for the first time in the 11th century by the author of the life of Hildeburge de Gallardon, who lived during the reign of Philippe Ier. She was the daughter of Hervé 1er de Gallardon. After founding a hospital at Ivry, on the borders of the dioceses of Chartres and Evreux, she fled this region on account of the wars and withdrew with her son Goellus (Ascelin Goël) to a land near the village of Joui situated on the Oise, « in confinio Gaudiaci Villae quoe est super Isaram ».
