The château de Jaujac bears the name of this family and the commune has adopted its coat of arms. On a spiritual level, Jaujac appears to have been linked to Viviers since very ancient times (the 8th century). On a temporal level, there is evidence of an Albert de Jaujac in 1216, followed by his descendants. The family de Jaujac was linked through marriage to the houses of Montlaur d'Anduze and de Joyeuse.
