A little history
A strategic ridge for Hasparren and Macaye, the Ursuya was home to several protohistoric forts (gaztelu zahar). Hasparren enters history with the famous Latin lapidary inscription of the "plaque commémorative antique relative à la construction de la province de Novempopulanie". It is referenced in the CIL (Corpus Inscriptionum Latinarum) under number XIII, 412 and in the ILS (Inscriptiones Latinae Selectae) under number 6961.
