A little history
The village of Guérard dates back to the Middle Ages. During the night of 24 to 25 frimaire year II (14 to 15 December 1793), the commune of Guérard was the scene of anti-Jacobin unrest. Jacobins from the Société Populaire de Guérard were set upon by individuals from Pommeuse and Villeneuve whilst they were making their way to assist the Jacobins of Coulommiers, who were caught up in rioting. Natives of Guérard and other individuals also coming from Pommeuse and Villeneuve likewise sought to burn the Jacobins' register and attack the former parish priest and his wife.
