Gergy is a French commune situated in the département of Saône-et-Loire in the région of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, approximately 10 kilometres north-east of Chalon-sur-Saône.
A little history
Numerous ancient remains have been found there, dating from the Neolithic period. Numerous remains from the Gallo-Roman period are also very much in evidence, notably near the Roman road (via Agrippa). In the 13th century, this village and its lordship belonged to the family of Rion Montaigu. In 1438, Nicolas Rolin was lord there.
