A little history
Gamarde-les-Bains has long been known for its water rich in sulphur with dermatological properties, treating in particular eczema and psoriasis. In 1517, the first bathing practices were observed at Gamarde. In 1802, the pharmacist Victor Meyrac published a report demonstrating the usefulness of the water of Gamarde in dermatological conditions. In 1841, the thermal water was recognised by the académie de Médecine.
