Fougerolles-du-Plessis is a French commune, located in the département of Mayenne in the Pays de la Loire region, with a population of 1,215 inhabitants. The commune forms part of the historic province of Maine, and is situated in the Bas-Maine.
A little history
The first historical trace came to light with the discovery, at the end of 1918, of a polissoir on a ford on an old path near the village of la Haute Thomassière. This polissoir was deposited at the musée de Mayenne. In 1845, a hoard of 150 Roman coins was found at le Plessis. In the 12th century, numerous documents linked to the abbaye de Savigny record concessions and regulations concerning the lands of Fougerolles du Plessis. These concessions were made in 1137 by Guillaume de l'Écluse, and around 1250 there was a gift by Raoul, curé de Fougerolles, to the Ermites de Courbefosse.
