Les premières traces de peuplement à Forges remontent de façon sûre à l’époque gallo-romaine. Elles revêtent la forme d’une « baignoire », sorte de petite piscine ou d’installation de bains, souvent présente dans les villas gallo-romaines luxueuses. Forges, située entre la région habitée par les Carnutes et les Stampiens (Étampes), est peuplée par les Forgeois, qui sont des Parisii. Aux IXe et Xe siècles, Forges subit comme toute la région les invasions normandes.
