Flize is a new French commune situated in the département des Ardennes, in the Grand Est region. It was created by the merger of Flize, Balaives-et-Butz, Boutancourt and Élan on 1 January 2019.
A little history
A merger process involving Balaives-et-Butz, Boutancourt, Élan, Flize and Étrépigny was initiated in 2018, but the latter withdrew from the project. The first four, following favourable votes by each municipal council, merged on 1 January 2019 to form the new commune of Flize, and became its delegated communes.
