Feillens (pronunciation, fɛ.jɑ̃) is a French commune situated in the département of l'Ain, in the region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. The commune is situated in the urban area of Mâcon. Its inhabitants are called the Feillendis and the Feillendies.
A little history
The site of Feillens, situated along the natural transit route formed by the Saône, has been occupied since Prehistory. It is probably from the late Neolithic period that the 6,000 lithic pieces collected in the 20th century date. The same area yielded fragments of amphorae and Roman roof tiles. It is reasonable to suppose that a Gallo-Roman landing stage once stood at this location.
