A little history
During the summer of 1892, in a peat bog in Fagnières, a piece of rib, an astragalus and teeth from a young bovid were found together with a polished axe. A circular protohistoric enclosure of 20 m with two entrances was discovered at the Noue du moulin, and it contained eight burials. An archaeological survey carried out to the south of the village centre brought to light a pre- or protohistoric structure, artefacts from the first half of the 15th century and a potential post-built construction of more than 40 m2. In the Middle Ages, the lordship belonged to a family that held the château de Fagnières from at least the 12th to the 14th century.
