A little history
The earliest traces of human occupation at Tinqueux date back to the Neolithic age, on a site that served as a cemetery at that time. This was discovered through preventive excavations during the construction of the Champ Paveau district in the 1980s. During the Gallo-Roman period, the town was no more than a small grouping of farms on the Roman road extending the east-west axis (decumanus) of the great neighbouring city of Durocortorum (Reims). Public records mention Tinqueux for the first time in 975, when the commune belonged to the lord Manasses.
