The commune, which is essentially urban in character, is located within the intercommunal area of Grenoble-Alpes Métropole. Historically, its territory is crossed by the route Napoléon, which recalls the return of Napoléon Ier after his departure from the Ile d'Elbe.
A little history
The history of the commune dates back to the Gallo-Roman period. The oldest traces are those of a Gallo-Roman villa from the 1st century, discovered during a redevelopment of the village squares. Dominating the historic village of the commune, it stands on a hill that overlooks the passage linking the Grenoble basin to the plateau de Champagnier and the foothills of Belledonne. Its origins are thought to go back to the Middle Ages, though this is not entirely clear.
