A little history
The place was first called Monestoy, named after the lordship whose existence has been attested since at least the 13th century. The first lords were the Monestoy family. On 15 May 1322, Guillaume, mayor of Monestoy, acknowledged a rent of 10 sols dijonnais for the anniversary of Mademoiselle Moine de Quincey, interred at the abbaye Saint-Martin d'Autun. Around 1430, the new lords of Monestoy were Pierre de Bauffremont and his wife, Agnès de Saulx.
